While they were grinding on the independent circuits, the two were known as the "Suicide Blondes" and played close friends instead of being actually related. Once they transitioned to the WWE, however, they went with their "Edge" and "Christian" monikers and, as part of their new personas, acted as if they were brothers. They grew up together and even attended school together and started their professional wrestling careers together.
Not only were they an incredible tag team, but even when they stopped wrestling entirely although Edge has made some appearances in the WWE and seems to be back in business , they continued to work on other projects together.
In an interview featured on Tripod around the time the two were signed, the duo talked about how hard their road to the WWE was. Anyone who's ever worked in the professional wrestling business knows how difficult it can be to make it to the big leagues and this was certainly the case for the two friends.
He continued, "We trained together, grew up together, we went all through school together, roommates in college, the whole thing. They ripped of the masks and revealed themselves as the Hardy Boyz. Edge and Christian surrendered the golden costumes of Los Conquistadores. Edge and Christian had wrestled with the costumes, and people had thought that the people behind the masks were Edge and Christian.
They told the fans that they were not Los Conquistadores. In backstage segments, they congratulated Los Conquistadores. When Hardyz won the titles, however, they told that they had taken the masks and costumes from Edge and Christian's hired goons Christopher Daniels and Aaron Aguilera were Los Conquistadores in backstage segments in a backstage segment, thus ending the storyline of Los Conquistadores.
At the Royal Rumble , they lost the titles to Dudleyz. Later that night, they dropped the titles to Dudleyz. On the April 19 episode of SmackDown! As a result, on the September 3 edition of Raw is War in their hometown of Toronto, Christian appeared to be jealous of his brother and insisted on carrying Edge's trophy to the ring. During the night, he assaulted Edge with a " one-man con-chair-to " and joined The Alliance. The former partners went on to feud over the WWF Intercontinental Championship for several months, causing the team to split.
Edge and Christian had a one-night reunion at a SmackDown! From there, they would become loosely united through Christian facing Edge's storyline rivals, leading to three more reunion tag team matches in WWE Hall of Famer Edge and Christian are best friends in real life and have done well in the squared circle both as a tag team and singles stars.
Edge, Christian, and Gangrel formed an alliance back in the late 90s with the trio calling themselves "The Brood". Edge's Wikipedia page states that he met Christian while he was a year-old kid in Orangeville.
The duo used to go to Maple Leaf Gardens in Toronto to watch their favorite professional wrestlers in action. Christian has spoken in-depth about his friendship with Edge. Check out his comments from an interview he did back in April:.
Christian revealed that Edge grew up with a single mom who used to work two to three jobs at a time to support him. The Rated-R Superstar would spend most of his time at Christian's house.
