I'm not sure if build-essential is on the Kubuntu CD or not, but that is the correct package. I thought as much. If I am to use the Internet would I have to use Adept to update and install the necessary packages.
I find myself running into some circular dependencies. If someone can post a guide as to what would be the most ideal method of installation I would really appreciate it. Instead of installing gcc using the Internet, would it be possible to use another Linux distro CD to install gcc instead? For example could I use the gcc package as included within a Fedora or Debian distro?
Try adding the install cd to apt using apt-cdrom. If you install kdevelop, it should install the gcc compiler and related libs automatically.
I'm a newb myself so don't take my word for it. Personally, I use the Adept installer. Thread Tools.
